Have you heard?!  Our Wednesday Recharge Kids time has an exciting addition!  We are using God Rods again!  

Your child is invited to help us with our newest worship message! All children in grades Kindergarten and older, will be learning motions to the song "Remember Me" by Mark Schultz (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9a2TFsrhp84).

Our goal is to share the God Rod message during Church Street Christmas Craft Night on Sunday, December 22 and in Sunday worship on December 29.

It is not too late to join our practices! All children elementary age and up and invited to participate. Each week we will have a portion of our Wednesday Recharge Kids time after Fellowship Dinner to learn motions and practice. We hope you will join us!

Some of you may be wondering, "What is a God Rod?" I'm so glad you asked! Dade City First UMC has a long tradition of encouraging children and youth to participate in leading worship, which can include acolyting, singing, playing instruments, reading scripture, and so much more. But one of the most memorable and moving methods is God Rods, which incorporates music and choreographed motions using wooden dowels.

Bible Lesson- Genesis 37:1-36 Joseph and His Brothers
Joseph was part of a large family. His father, Jacob, had twelve sons. Joseph was his favorite because Joseph was born in Jacob's old age to Jacob's favorite wife. Difficulty arose in the way Jacob expressed that favoritism publicly. Jacob gave Joseph a special coat-- a long, expensive robe with sleeves.  As it became obvious Joseph was Jacob's favorite son and that he was different, Joseph's brothers began to resent him. Joseph's arrogant attitude and actions did not help the situation. When opportunity presented itself, Jospeh's brothers got rid of him. At first the plan was to kill Joseph, but one of the brothers, Rueben, convinces the others to throw him in a deep pit. Another brother, Judah, suggests selling Joseph into slavery. It is in this way that Joseph ends up in Egypt. Joseph's brothers, who have stolen his robe, use it to deceive their father Jacob into believing Joseph is dead. Joseph never receives a direct message from God. Rather, God acts behind the scenes. Later in his life, Joseph realizes God has been there all along, and when Joseph is reunited with his brothers, he tells them God has used him for a greater plan.
